Shillong, Mar 22: In a thrilling turn of events, Myngken Christian Higher Secondary School from Bhoirymbong, Meghalaya, is all set to represent India at the 2nd Edition of the Indo-French Football Tournament in Paris, France.
The team, comprising 16 players, one coach, one manager, and a state representative, will face off against four French teams in the same age category from March 24 to 30, 2025.
This incredible opportunity comes on the heels of their impressive performance as runner-ups in the Subroto Mukherjee Cup (U-17) competition last year.

The team’s journey is a testament to Meghalaya’s thriving football scene, which has been nurtured from the grassroots level.
According to Hamlet Dohling, adviser to Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma, “Meghalaya’s success begins from the grassroots level.”
He extended his best wishes to the team and urged them to remain disciplined while representing India abroad.

The team will not only gain valuable experience in international football but also immerse themselves in French culture.
As Dikki D. Shira, Director of the Sports and Youth Affairs Department, noted, “This is a good opportunity for the team to gain exposure to international football and experience the culture and way of life in other countries.”
In an exciting bonus, the team will also get to train with the renowned French football club, Olympic Lyonnais. All expenses for the tournament will be covered by the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs.
