Shillong, July 2, 2025: Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong has clarified that the government’s financial assistance to street vendors in Khyndai Lad should be viewed as a gesture of support, rather than an act of victimization.
Speaking to the media, Tynsong emphasized that the relocation of street vendors is being undertaken in their best interest, to improve their working and living conditions.
As part of the initiative, the government is offering a relocation allowance of ₹10,000 and monthly financial aid of ₹2,000 for up to five months to eligible vendors.
He urged hawkers to cooperate with the Town Vending Committee (TVC) and to voice their concerns through appropriate channels, assuring that the government is committed to understanding and addressing their needs.
