05 August 2025 The Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Secretariat expresses its profound grief and sorrow at the passing of Shri Satya Pal Malik, former Hon’ble Governor of Meghalaya, who left for his heavenly abode on 5th August 2025 at the age of 79, following a prolonged illness.
Shri Satya Pal Malik served with distinction as the Governor of Meghalaya from 18th October 2020 to 3rd October 2022. Born on 24th July 1946, he was a seasoned statesman and public servant who held gubernatorial responsibilities across several Indian states, including Bihar, Odisha, Jammu & Kashmir, Goa, and Meghalaya, throughout his illustrious career.
He was widely respected for his unwavering commitment to public welfare, particularly for his strong advocacy on issues affecting farmers. His outspoken nature on matters of national importance, combined with his humility and principled leadership, earned him admiration across the political spectrum.
Shri Malik will be remembered as a man of integrity, wisdom, and courage. His calm demeanour, compassionate nature, and depth of experience left a lasting impact on all who had the honour of knowing or working with him.
The Hon’ble Speaker and the Secretariat of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly convey their deepest condolences to the bereaved family. We pray that the Almighty grants them strength and solace during this time of grief.
