Winston Tony Lyngdoh Named New KHADC CEM After Shemborlang Rynjah’s Resignation

Shillong, 25 September 2025 – The Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) has witnessed a significant leadership change following the resignation of Bah Shemborlang Rynjah as Chief Executive Member (CEM) on 24 September, citing health reasons. In response to the development, the President of the Voice of the People Party (VPP), Bah Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit, convened an urgent meeting at his residence in Laitkor to discuss the way forward. During the meeting, party members unanimously elected Bah Winston Tony Lyngdoh, MDC from Nongthymmai Constituency, as the new CEM. Bah Ardent informed that, following the collapse of the VPP-led Executive Committee (EC), the Party resolved that Bah Tony—widely regarded as one of the key strategists within the VPP—would also assume the role of leader of the Party’s Parliamentary Party (PP) in the KHADC. Reflecting on Bah Shemborlang Rynjah’s resignation, Bah Ardent noted that although his tenure lasted just seven months since the formation of the VPP-led EC, it highlights both the challenges of governance and the Party’s determination to remain active and responsible within the Council despite setbacks. Additionally, Bah Ardent announced that with Bah Winston Tony Lyngdoh taking over as CEM, his former position as Executive Member (EM) has been declared vacant. The Party has appointed Bah Denzil Chen, MDC of Jaiaw Constituency, as the new EM in the EC.
