Shillong, Oct, 2025: The Meghalaya SSA Schools Association (MSSASA) has announced its decision to file a Review Petition before the Supreme Court challenging the recent order that requires SSA teachers to clear the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) as a condition to continue their service.
The announcement was made by Aristotle Rymbai, President of MSSASA, during a public meeting of SSA teachers held at Madan Malki, Shillong. Addressing the gathering, Rymbai said that while the association respects the importance of TET, the directive poses a serious concern for long-serving teachers who have already contributed over a decade of dedicated service.
“We are not against the need for TET, but we urge the government and the Supreme Court to consider the situation of teachers who have been working sincerely for years. We want the matter to be reviewed carefully,” Rymbai stated.
He added that the association will soon submit representations to the Education Department and the State Government, appealing for more time and institutional support for veteran SSA teachers who may face challenges in meeting the new requirement.
To strengthen its legal approach, MSSASA has constituted a special legal committee tasked with preparing the Review Petition, which is expected to be filed within the next two weeks.
The meeting saw participation from SSA teachers across Meghalaya, reflecting a strong sense of unity and determination to protect their rights and welfare. The teachers reaffirmed their commitment to quality education while urging the authorities to recognize their years of service and experience.
