Shillong, October 8, 2025: In a solemn and dignified ceremony held at Raj Bhavan, Shillong, the Hon’ble Governor of Meghalaya, Shri C. H. Vijayashankar, was conferred with the Kaveri Prashasti Award by Dr. Sri Sri Trinetra Mahanta Shivayogi Swamiji, the revered pontiff of Sri Durdandeshwara Mahanta Shivayogi Math, Mandya District, and Sri DMS Chandravana Ashrama, located on the western banks of the sacred River Kaveri in Srirangapatna, Karnataka.
The prestigious honour was bestowed upon Governor Vijayashankar in recognition of his exceptional contributions to public service and leadership spanning several decades.
The ceremony was attended by an array of distinguished guests, including Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, Cabinet Minister Marcuise N. Marak, and Chief Secretary Dr. Shakil P. Ahammed, along with senior government officials, spiritual leaders, and invited guests.
In his acceptance speech, Governor Vijayashankar expressed deep gratitude to Swamiji for the honour, commending his remarkable work in education, healthcare, peacebuilding, and spiritual guidance.
“The Kaveri Prashasti Award holds deep significance,” said the Governor. “Just as the River Kaveri nourishes life and symbolizes purity, this award reminds us to strive for goodness and service wherever possible.”
In a heartfelt moment, the Governor shared that this was the first award he had accepted in his 69 years, underscoring his humility and the deep personal respect he holds for Swamiji.
“This award is not mine alone—it belongs to the entire state of Meghalaya,” he added.
Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, in his congratulatory address, lauded the Governor’s dedication, humility, and unwavering commitment to public welfare, describing the award as a testament to his exemplary service. The Chief Minister also commended Swamiji for his transformative contributions to education, health, the environment, and spiritual upliftment.
“This recognition will inspire many—especially the youth—to serve society with sincerity, compassion, and integrity,” said the Chief Minister.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks from the organisers, who extended appreciation to all dignitaries and guests for their presence and support in making the occasion a resounding success.
