Mawkyrwat, Nov 13: The Office of the District Sports Officer (DSO), South West Khasi Hills District, in collaboration with the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, successfully concluded the two-day Chief Minister’s District Level Youth Engagement Programme on Thursday.
The programme, held on 12–13 November 2025 at the Multipurpose Hall of the DC’s Office in Laitlawsang, brought together students and youth from across Mawkyrwat and Ranikor blocks for a series of interactive and competitive activities aimed at promoting youth development.
Dignitaries Grace Opening and Closing Ceremonies
The inaugural session on November 12 was graced by Bah F. B. Basan, ADC, SWKHD, who attended as the Chief Guest. The closing ceremony on November 13 was presided over by Bah Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar, MLA of Mawkyrwat Constituency, as the Chief Guest.
The event was also attended by Bah B. Mawlong, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, N.D. Shira, MCS, Assistant Commissioner, Bah D. Syngkon, District Sports Officer, along with other government officials, teachers, and community representatives.
Strong Participation Across District
Participants from multiple schools, villages, and individual youth from both Mawkyrwat and Ranikor Blocks actively took part in the programme. Over the two days, they engaged in a wide range of competitions and activities designed to boost confidence, teamwork, leadership skills, and physical fitness.

Officials appreciated the enthusiasm and discipline showcased by the youth, noting that such initiatives play a crucial role in empowering young people and nurturing future leaders.
Encouragement for Future Engagement
In his address, MLA Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar lauded the district administration and the Sports Department for organizing a meaningful platform for young people. He urged the youth to continue harnessing their talents and assured continued support for youth-centric programmes in the district.
The DSO office expressed gratitude to all participating schools, community leaders, and volunteers for contributing to the successful completion of the programme.
