Shillong, December 04: A one-day workshop on digital literacy was successfully organized at Riwar College, Pynursla on Thursday.

The programme was hosted by Asorphi and sponsored by the Government of Meghalaya under the Chief Minister’s Youth Development Scheme (CMYDS) 2024-25, through the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District.

The session covered important topics such as Basics of Digital Devices and Online Tools, Internet Skills, Digital Suite Applications, and essential Do’s and Don’ts of online activities, including password safety, secure transactions, digital etiquette, and cyber awareness. The workshop also included a hands-on practical session, allowing participants to engage directly with digital tools and applications for enhanced learning.

The keynote address was delivered by Smt. Banjurip Lyngdoh, Junior Rural Development Officer (JRDO), Pynursla C&RD Block, who highlighted the significance of digital awareness in bridging the rural–urban digital divide and empowering youth for future opportunities. The programme was also graced by the Principal of Riwar College and the Principal of Asorphi Academy Higher Secondary School, Pynursla, who emphasized the importance of digital literacy in today’s education system.

The workshop was actively participated by students and teachers representing five institutions: Riwar College, RMSA Raid Shabong Secondary School, Khad-Ar Blang Higher Secondary School, Seng Khasi Nongmadan Higher Secondary School, and Asorphi Academy Higher Secondary School.

The workshop received positive feedbacks with participants expressing that the training will significantly enhance their confidence in navigating the digital world.

The event concluded with the distribution of certificates to all the participants of the workshop which was conducted as part of the ongoing national digital literacy initiative that was first launched by the Prime Minister in 2015, aiming to make every citizen digitally empowered and technologically aware.
