Nongpoh, January 16: The Ri Bhoi District Sports Association (RBDSA) has sent its Under-17 football team to represent the district at the 20th Administration Challenge Cup All India Football Tournament 2026, scheduled to be held in Chandigarh.
The tournament provides a national platform for young footballers and reflects the steady rise of football talent from Ri Bhoi district, driven by systematic grassroots development and proactive sports administration.
The U-17 team is being coached by Bah Pynkhrehlang Nongkseh, with Bah Pynshongdor Shadap serving as the team manager.
Ahead of the team’s departure, the RBDSA organised a send-off programme where players were extended best wishes and encouragement. The programme was led by RBDSA President Bah R.B. Shadap and Secretary Bah Dipshon Ryntathiang, who offered prayers for the team’s safe journey and a successful campaign in the tournament.
Addressing the players, President Bah R.B. Shadap urged them to uphold discipline, sportsmanship and respect, both on and off the field. He reminded the team that representing the district at a national-level tournament carries responsibility, as their performance reflects the pride and reputation of Ri Bhoi district and the state of Meghalaya.
The RBDSA expressed confidence that the young footballers will give their best and aim to bring honour to the district through strong performances at the prestigious tournament.
