SHILLONG, MAY 4: The Meghalaya Schools Welfare Development Association (MSWDA) has submitted a proposal to Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong seeking financial support and grant-in-aid for secondary and higher secondary schools in the state.
In a memorandum, the association expressed sincere gratitude to Tynsong’s commitment and the concern he shown towards the issues relating to Secondary and Higher Secondary Schools.
It referred to Tynsong’s speech at a programme held on May 1, at Students Field, Jaiaw, stating, “We deeply appreciate your speech… which has given renewed hope and encouragement to all stakeholders in the education sector.”
The MSWDA-CB said it had suggested in an earlier memorandum dated April 13, 2026 that for secondary schools, “preference should be given to schools with 50% and above pass percentage in the SSLC Results from 2019 to 2023, as detailed in the proposed list of the DSEO.”
“The latest and updated information for Secondary and Higher Secondary Schools will be submitted to the Government after receiving replies from all District School Education Officers (DSEO),” the memorandum said.
The association requested Tynsong to take up the matter with the Chief Minister and arrange a meeting with the Association and Education Department to discuss and explore ways and means to address any complexities related to the said proposal.
