Khasi Students’ Union elects new central body for 2026 term

Shillong, May 10: The Khasi Students’ Union Central Body has announced the results of its election for new office bearers for the 2026 term, with several key posts filled unopposed.
According to the result sheet issued by the Election Committee, Raymond Kharjana was elected unopposed as President of the KSU Central Body. Pynkmenlang Sanmiet was also elected unopposed as Vice President, while Reuben A. Najiar was elected unopposed as General Secretary.
The election process was conducted by the Election Committee headed by Lambokstarwell Marngar as President and Donald V. Thabah as General Secretary, marking the conclusion of the tenure of the Central Executive Council (CEC) 2023–2026.
Outgoing General Secretary Donald V. Thabah stated that the KSU presently comprises nearly 480 units with more than 10,000 active members.
For the post of Assistant General Secretary, Pynshaiborlang Rani secured victory with 2,883 votes, defeating Melajied Khongbuh, who polled 1,722 votes.
In the contest for Organising Secretary, Cleenstar Shabong emerged victorious with 1,905 votes. Other candidates included Hopefullborn Mawnai with 1,594 votes, Nangrikupar Malngiang with 682 votes and Samuel Shabong with 410 votes.
For Education Secretary, Alerick Kharjana won with 1,850 votes. Other contestants were Robbinestar Nongrem with 1,000 votes, Andrew Gary Dkhar with 845 votes, Nangshngainbha Lakiang with 575 votes and Samuel L. Nonglait with 329 votes.
In the election for Information & Publicity Secretary, Pynshai Kupar M. Dkhar won with 1,416 votes, followed by Sandy Sohtun with 994 votes, Michael Mawa with 976 votes, Jeremiah Pohthmi with 687 votes and Shelkitbok Kharbani with 638 votes.
For Office Secretary, Gary R. Mawlieh secured 1,700 votes, while Eric Anthony Nongkynrih won the Sports & Cultural Secretary post with 2,596 votes.
Meanwhile, Shiningstar Kharbihkhiew was elected Environment Secretary with 1,571 votes.
The official result sheet was signed by Election Committee Chairman Danny M. Khyriem and Election Committee Secretary Samuel B. Jyrwa.
