SHILLONG, MAY 12: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Tuesday reviewed the ongoing redevelopment works in Tura town, with a total investment of over ₹1331 crore, and stressed timely completion and better inter-departmental coordination.

The review meeting was held in the presence of cabinet ministers Timothy D Shira and Sanbor Shullai.

The total planned investment for the redevelopment of Tura town is about ₹1928 crore, with ongoing projects worth over ₹1331 crore already under execution.

The meeting assessed the progress of current works and discussed plans for upcoming projects to be implemented in phases.

Key ongoing projects include the Tura Integrated Administrative Complex at ₹165 crore, which is “expected to be completed in phases starting September 2027.” Other major works under execution are the PA Sangma Sports Complex and its West Stand, the Pa Togan Sangma Track & Field Stadium, and the Tura Technology Park.

The list also covers the beautification of Tura Bazaar, construction of a Convention Centre, Pelga Tourist Circuits & Hospitality Complex, Working Women’s Hostel, heliport development, and the Tura Water Supply Scheme.

The redevelopment of Polo Orchid Hotel is expected to begin soon.

The Chief Minister also reviewed projects worth ₹242.74 crore that are ready for tender. These will be taken up in phases and include redevelopment of Najing Bazaar, a multi-level parking and cinema complex at SMELC, Tura City Park, an Active Ageing Centre, a Kids Zone at Araimile, and the Tura Promenade. Other planned works cover the Chief Minister’s Youth Center, renovation of the Circuit House, a commercial complex, installation of street lighting, and development of sports facilities at Kendriya Vidyalaya.

Projects at the conceptual stage, estimated at ₹155 crore, include affordable housing, an archery complex, and additional commercial infrastructure.

The total planned investment for the redevelopment of Tura is about ₹1928 crore.

The Chief Minister stressed the need for timely completion of projects and better coordination between departments.
