Nongpoh, May 14, 2026: Determination and perseverance proved stronger than physical limitations as nine students from the Ferrando Speech and Hearing Centre at Umniuh in Ri Bhoi district successfully passed the MBOSE Class XII examination this year.

The Ferrando Speech and Hearing Centre, a special educational institution managed by the Catholic Church, provides education and support to students with hearing and speech impairments. The achievement of the nine students has brought pride and joy to the institution, especially following the recent declaration of the MBOSE Higher Secondary Examination results.

To honour the students for their accomplishment, the school authorities organised a felicitation programme at the institution. It was informed that all nine students had been studying at the school since Nursery and completed their academic journey there up to Class XII.

Chairman of the Umsning People’s Front, Dr David Lyngdoh, attended the programme as the chief guest. In his address, he congratulated the students for their hard work and determination and also praised the dedication of the school authorities and teachers in nurturing and guiding the students despite the challenges they face.

The programme was also attended by Sr Arda Ryntathiang, Sr Consolata Minj, and members of the teaching staff, who expressed happiness and pride over the students’ success. They described the achievement as an inspiration for many others, proving that commitment and courage can overcome barriers and lead to academic excellence.
