SHILLONG, JUL 28: Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar has said the NPP has delivered Meghalaya’s most stable government in 8 years, with no internal fights over posts.

Addressing a campaign rally for NPP Shillong Lok Sabha bypoll candidate Dr DRL Nonglait at Umdihar, Umsning in Ri Bhoi, Dhar said the party is focused on governance, not politics.

“For 8 years we have run Meghalaya. We have never fought for the CM’s chair, Deputy CM, MP or President posts because we are busy working,” he said.

“Earlier, CMs were changed every 7 months, at most every 2 years. Today we have stability.”He added that the NPP has no time for “market gossip” and petty exchanges.

“We stay up at night to deliver for the people. We reply only to issues that matter. We shouldn’t waste time on those with nothing to do,” Dhar said.

Calling for unity, he urged leaders and the public to avoid divisive language.

“Life is too short. Our job is to love and correct each other, not to call our own people thieves. If we talk like that, where will the state go?”

Dhar described Dr Nonglait as a humble leader with grassroots experience who understands hardship and will not forget the people.

He appealed to voters in Umdihar, Umsning and across Ri Bhoi to back the NPP, stressing the need for alignment between state and central representatives for development.

“If the MP is in the opposition, we start at a minus. We need the same team at state and central level so development reaches the people. If we fight among ourselves, we lose,” he said.
