SHILLONG, SEP 1: Organisers of the fishing competition at Mawryngkneng have been booked for violating permission conditions and causing public nuisance, Deputy Commissioner Abhilash Baranwal said on Tuesday.
“We have issued show-cause notice to both organisers and directed police to register an FIR for violation of permission conditions and another FIR for public nuisance under the Motor Vehicles Act,” Baranwal said.
He said the administration will tighten norms for such private events.
“We are working on a direction that organisers will have to give sufficient information in advance. We will introduce joint inspection,” he said, adding that at present inspection is done only by the Block office.
In future, he said, a joint team comprising police, Dorbar Shnong, civil administration and Fisheries department will conduct inspections, and a penalty mechanism will be introduced for events causing public nuisance.
