Shillong, Sept 25: A special session of the Jaiñtia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) to elect a new Chief Executive Member will be held on Wednesday at 11 am.

Filing of nominations for the CEM post will end on Tuesday at 1 pm.

According to sources, the election is necessitated after Thombor Shiwat resigned from the CEM post on September 21. Shiwat is the Congress MDC from Nartiang constituency.

Congress MDC from Jowai Central, A Andrew Shullai is likely to be elected as the new CEM of the Council.

Earlier, 23 MDCs have sought for the removal of Shiwat from the post, after which he stepped down before facing a no-confidence motion brought against him.
