226 persons opt out of Aadhar, delegation from Garo Hills supports MCPA

Shillong, Oct 30: The ‘opt out’ campaign of Aadhar has gained momentum with  226  persons,  both  male  and  female  from  different  parts  of  Khasi  and Jaiñtia  Hills  have  come  to  individually  sign  documents  for  surrendering the enrolment.

The ‘opt out’ campaign of Aadhar was spearheaded by Meghalaya People’s Committee on Aadhar (MPCA).

On Monday, a delegation from Garo Hills  also came  to  meet  MPCA  members  wishing  to   associate  themselves  as  members.

A statement issued by MCPA said that the delegation included, Rev Goera  M.  Sangma  from  Tura,  Pastor  James  K.  Sangma from  Tura,  Pastor  Armith  Ch.  Momin from  Kherapara,  Doni  Ch.  Marak  from  Garobadha  and  they  will  facilitate  the  campaign  in  Garo  Hills.

“Today  (30/10/2017),  226  persons,  both  male  and  female  from  different  parts  of  the  Khasi  and Jaiñtia  Hills  have  come  to  individually  sign  documents  for  opting  out  of Aadhaar  enrolment  while  around  the  same  number  of  persons,  have  taken  draft  letters  for  signing  by  family  members  and the MPCA  will  only  facilitate  sending  them  to  UIDAI,” the statement said.

For  these  and  others  who  still  want  to  opt  out,  the MPCA  would provide  facilitation  till  November 3, at  the  office  of  Khasi Students’ Union ,  Jaiaw,  here between 11am and  3 pm.

The MCPA said that with  regard s to  opting  out  of Aadhaar  enrolment  for  those  in South  West  Khasi  Hills,  they  may  visit  the  KSU office  South  West  Khasi  Hills  at  Mawkyrwat  any  day  between  October  31 and  November 3.

For residents  from  West  Khasi  Hills  district who  cannot  come  to  Shillong,  the date   and  venue  would be  fixed  for  facilitating them to withdraw from  Aadhaar  enrolment.
