Shillong, Feb 03: Despite having been projected by his supporters as the NPP’s chief ministerial candidate, NPP candidate from Pynursla constituency, Prestone Tynsong however stated that he is yet to be an official chief ministerial candidate of the party.

“This cannot be officially declared as of today because it is for elected MLAs who will unanimously take a call as to who from among them will be the leader,” Tynsong told reporters after he filed his nomination papers on Saturday.

Tynsong who left the Congress and joined NPP, exuded confidence that the NPP would win around 32 seats in the upcoming Assembly polls slated to be held in February 27.

“The party’s prospect is better as we will get absolute majority. Our aim to cross the magic number and we are sure to getting 31 to 32 seats,” Tynsong said.

On the NPP-BJP nexus, Tynsong said that the opponents including the ruling Congress, tried to misled the people of the state because they are “scared” of the NPP’s wave.

“We have already started the campaign and we told the people not to believe the propaganda that the NPP is the B team of the BJP,” he said.

Asked if he considered the creation of Pynursla Civil Sub-division as his achievement, Tynsong, who had praised the leadership of chief minister Mukul Sangma and termed him a “true leader” during the inauguration of the new civil sub-division, said, “not only civil sub-division, but other developmental activities also during the last five years.”
