Shillong May 12: A joint multispecialty medical camp by the BSF and Border Guards of Bangladesh (BGB) was organized at Tamabil on Saturday for the border population of Bangladesh.
A similar camp was organized for border population of Indian side at Umsyiem village on Friday.
Seven doctors of different specialties from the Composite Hospital BSF, Shillong representing Indian side and 10 doctors of the BGB organized the camp which was inaugurated by Dr A.C. Bhardwajan, DIG/Medical Superintendent BSF Composite Hospital Shillong in the presence of Sector Commander BGB, Nasir and D P Tokas, Sector Commander of BSF.
A total of 650 population male, female and children attended the medical camp. While 80 children were checked by the pediatrician, 155 females were checked by Gynecologist, besides surgical checkup for 140 population.
During the medical camp, 130 population were checked by medical specialist and 145 population were screened by general physician.
Besides these facilities, the BSF medical team also organized a screening camp for diabetes and Hepatitis B & C.
All the 650 population male, female and children were screened and provided medication along with suitable advices.
Specialists from the field of surgery, medical specialist, Gynaecologist, Paeditrician and general physician including lady doctor were part of the joint multispecialty medical camp.
