CoMSO seeks ministers’ support for inclusion of ILP provisions

Shillong, Sept 20: The Confederation of Meghalaya Social Organizations has sought the support of cabinet ministers on the demand to incorporate the provisions of Inner Line Permit (ILP) in the Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security Act, 2016.

The delegation of CoMSO, a conglomeration of 12 pressure groups on Friday met the deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong, PHE minister Samlin Malngiang, urban affairs minister Hamletson Dohling, health minister AL Hek and Assembly Speaker, Metbah Lyngdoh, who is also the UDP president to solicit their support.

“We have urged them to support the demand to include the provisions of ILP in the proposed amendment of the MRSSA,” chairman of the confederation Robertjune Kharjahrin said.

He said the delegation has also requested the cabinet ministers to ensure the state government speed up bringing the proposed amendment within October in view of the publication of the Assam’s NRC final list which have excluded over 19 lakh persons.
