Shillong, Feb 05: It is final that the Congress is the only party to contest from all 60 seats, and the BJP will field its candidates in 47 seats in the upcoming Assembly polls slated for February 27.
The ruling Congress and the BJP have announced their final list of candidates on Monday evening.
The three remaining candidates of the Congress include former education minister, Manas Chaudhuri from South Shillong constituency, Banpynshngaiñlang Rumnong from Pynthorumkhrah constituency and Diolinda Dkhar from Khliehriat constituency.
Chaudhuri was denied ticket by the Bharatiya Janata Party as ticket was given to former NCP legislator, Sanbor Shullai.
The BJP has decided to field two more candidates – former member of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council, Field Marshall Mawphniang from Umroi constituency and former president of the Ri-Bhoi Youth Federation, Ban Buhai Makdoh from Mawhati assembly seat.
With this final list, the BJP is fielding candidates only in to 47 out of 60 seats.
