Shillong, Nov 21: A new movie in Jaintia dialect, “Thong ïong Nga” or “My Goal”, will be released on November 24.
Directed by Simi Khongtiang, a renowned woman film producer from Jaiñtia Hills, the movie starring Pulliatmitre Lipon and Regima Lamo will be shown at Bijoy Cinema Hall in the city from November 24 to November 30.
Addressing media persons here on Tuesday, Khongtiang said that “Thong ïong Nga” is a movie about a musical band formed by a group of talented youth, the journey and struggles involved in the process.
So far, Khongtiang has directed 15 films.
The total budget for the film was Rs 16 lakh, Khongtiang said, adding that the first half of the film was shot in Jowai and the other half in Shillong. The film has a total of nine songs in Jaiñtia and English languages.
She also said that with the coming of the censor board, film production has become more refine and competitive, instilling a spirit of competition in film making business.
Meghalaya Film Makers Association (MFMA) president, Commander Shangpliang lamented that the state government has done nothing to address the plight of local film makers in the state despite several meetings and memorandums submitted in the past.
“The government claimed that there were no guidelines or policy to extend help us, but it has been extending financial assistance crores of rupees for promoting Bollywood movie like Rock On, etc,” he said.
