Shillong, March 16: Meghalaya Minister for School Education and Literacy, Deborah C. Marak has assured that the government would renovate dilapidated buildings of LP schools.
In her reply to a question raised by HSPDP MLA from Rambrai-Jyrngam, K.P. Pangniang, the Minister said that three LP school buildings were constructed after taking over LP schools over by the government in 1984 from the Autonomous District Council (ADCs).
Pangniang said that many LP school buildings in his constituency have been damaged and many Managing Committees of various LP schools approached him for providing fund from the MLA scheme to repair and renovate the dilapidated buildings.
Marak said that school buildings damaged by calamity were also given financial assistance from relief fund after receiving report from the deputy commissioner, adding that even fund was also sanctioned from the MLA scheme for this purpose.
She however assured that the government would also renovate in future the dilapidated LP school buildings.
