NEIGRIHMS gives Special Services for BPL/ Poor Patient

Shillong, March- 7 : North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) a medical institute of India in Shillong, Meghalaya gives Special Services for BPL/ Poor Patient. For Below Poverty Line (BPL) patients, there is a Central Government Scheme called Rashtriya Arogya Nidhi (RAN) Scheme which may be sanctioned upto Rs. 5 Lakh for specific life threatening diseases. For cases above Rs. 5 Lakh, approval from the Grants Section, MoHFW, and New Delhi is sought. Cases pertaining to Low Income (non-BPL) are being forwarded to the MoHFW, New Delhi under Health Minister’s Discretionary Grants (HMDG) for approval. NEIGRIHMS is also empanelled for the Meghalaya Health Insurance Scheme (MHIS) which was started from 1st January 2016 for which a good number of patients got benefited. Cases relating to congenital defects upto 18 yrs of age are referred under Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) program for treatment at NEIGRIHMS for which cost is borne by the RBSK program. Also Medical Social Services (MSW) Unit NEIGRIHMS help BPL/ poor patients to get additional benefit after assessment of their socioeconomic status to avail exemption of charges and also free medicines as per availability in the hospital. Cochlear implants for the deaf are being operated and free implant is given to children below 6 years of age by Dept. of ENT with support of National Program for Deafness (the only centre in North East Region. NEIGRIHMS Pharmacy is running in the Hospital with heavy discount for all drugs and especially for high end item like anticancer drugs, consumables, dialysis item, antibiotics and other supplies. AMRIT Pharmacy is also running in the hospital especially for anticancer drugs etc.The other new services is also added with relate to registration. Registration is being done at the reception counter for all new and old patients. A new service of online registration was initiated since last year in which patients can register for OPD consultation by visiting www.neigrihms.gov.in. in case if patients lost their OPD card, they can get a new one with same ID number by providing their mobile number used during registration. There are 8 (eight) counters for registration with separate counters for persons with disability and senior citizens. Simultaneously Patient’s feedback mechanism was introduced in NEIGRIHMS in which patient/ attendant/ visitors can fill the feedback form and deposit the same in different suggestion/ complaint boxes available in the Hospital. A Public Grievance Committee of the Institute looks periodically into the feedback for action and acknowledges the person(s) filling the feedback. This helps improve services in the Hospital.
