The passing of Rev. Dr. Kharbteng has been described as a significant loss not only to his family but also to the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Meghalaya, where he was widely admired for his unwavering faith, humble leadership, and lifelong commitment to the service of God. Fondly known as Pastor KB Kharbteng, he earned the love and respect of many through his compassionate nature and steadfast dedication to ministry, which continued even during his prolonged illness.

Among those who attended the final rites were fellow pastors and church leaders of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, community leaders, residents of Saiden village, students and staff of Alpha English Higher Secondary School, where he served as Vice Principal, and members of his family, including his wife, Mrs. WK Blah, their children, grandchildren, relatives, and close friends.

Speaking during the funeral service, Mrs. WK Blah expressed her heartfelt gratitude to everyone who had stood by her husband throughout his ministry and supported the mission of the Church. She thanked fellow pastors, church members, colleagues, relatives, and well-wishers for their prayers, encouragement, and service over the years.

Born on September 14, 1955, Rev. Dr. Khrawbor Kharbteng began his ministry as an evangelist in 1980. Throughout his career, he played a vital role in strengthening the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Meghalaya while also contributing significantly to the establishment and development of educational institutions. He was ordained as a pastor on January 8, 1994, and later served as a Departmental Director of the Meghalaya Section of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Although he officially retired from pastoral ministry in 2014, he remained actively involved in church activities and community service, dedicating himself to nurturing faith, promoting prayer, and guiding families in Christian values.

Rev. Dr. Kharbteng passed away on July 12, 2026, at the age of 71. In accordance with his final wishes, he was laid to rest on July 14 in the family cemetery at his residence in Saiden village.

Instead, he wished for a simple farewell at his home. He further requested that mourners refrain from spending money on expensive floral tributes, expressing his desire that such funds be donated to support poor and orphaned children instead.
