SHILLONG, JUN 9: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) has flagged a year-long delay in the release of the Chief Minister’s Scholarship and urged Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma to intervene and ensure disbursement to eligible students.
In a letter, the KSU Education Cell expressed “serious concern” over the state government’s failure to release the CM Scholarship to students who have completed all application formalities.
“It has been more than a year now since many students applied and fulfilled all the requirements as per the laid-down conditions, but till today they have not received the scholarship which is their right,” the union said.
KSU said the delay has caused “great hardship” to students who depend on the CM Scholarship to support their studies.
“This delay has caused great hardship to many students who rely on the CM Scholarship to support their education,” it stated.
The student body urged the Chief Minister to personally look into the matter and ensure the scholarship reaches all deserving students.
“We urge the Chief Minister to personally intervene and examine this matter and ensure that the CM Scholarship reaches the students who are rightfully entitled to it. We believe that as the head of the State Government, the Chief Minister will take responsibility in this matter because the future of the students depends on getting timely support that is due to them,” KSU said.
