Shillong, Apr 23: A late strike by super substitute Bankheinlang Rongring powered Janepih YSCA to a hard-fought 1-0 victory over A’chik SCO Rongjeng in a competitive Group G encounter of the 5th Meghalaya State League in Williamnagar today.

The win marks Janepih’s third consecutive triumph in the competition, though it proved to be their toughest outing so far. They now sit comfortably at the top of the group with 9 points and remain the only team yet to concede a goal.

A’chik SCO Rongjeng (ASCOR) delivered a spirited performance but were forced to settle for their second defeat in three matches. They currently have 3 points and are placed fourth in the five-team group.

The decisive moment came in the closing stages of the match, with less than 10 minutes of regulation time remaining. Bankheinlang, who had been introduced just five minutes earlier, made an instant impact by netting the lone goal to secure victory for Janepih.

Meanwhile, there has been a revision in the Group A fixtures, with two matches now scheduled for tomorrow at the SSA Stadium in Shillong.
