Rs 110 crore has deposited with the State Government for the land acquisition: BSF

Shillong,Oct, 25: The Border Security Force (BSF) has deposited around Rs 110 crore with the State Government for the land acquisition along the Indo-Bangla border for border fencing work in Meghalaya.

Speaking to media persons here on Wednesday, BSF Meghalaya IG, PK Dubey said that around Rs 37 crore has been deposited for land acquisition in East Khasi Hills whereas Rs 74 crore has been deposited for Jaintia Hills region.
The BSF is yet to fence around 90 kilometers of the Indo-Bangla border in Meghalaya.

The BSF IG also asserted that the force during the survey ensured that no Indian village is shifted to Bangladesh and fencing will be done very close to international border.
A monitoring committee had recently visited Meghalaya to check on the progress of work.

 

“We have submitted 110 crores to Meghalaya government, 36 crore in East Khasi Hills and 74 crores in East Jaintia Hills for land acquisition so that the state government can clear the land to trake up the fencing work,” BSF IG said.
He further asserted that,”We kept in mind Bangladesh DGP whichever village should not be moved as we will take the frncing closer to the International border in some places we have even made it 50 meters after taking permission with Bangladesh so that our agricultural lands would not be destroyed and orachrds will remain intact”.
“Bangladesh has given us the permission and no village or villagers will be displaced because of the fencing,” he added.
